Too Dry for Fireworks?

We have been in a terrible drought this summer and several places are having a lot of wildfires. The one in Colorado is really scary – I have friends that live in Colorado Springs and that is where my brother lived for 2 years while he was in school. It makes me very sad to see the thousands of acres of mountains and all those beautiful homes being burned. And all those poor animals – it is a real tragedy!

It is also a problem for a lot people who have big plans for this weekend and for the Fourth of July. I have heard rumors that the police and fire departments are canceling their community fireworks shows and not allowing private citizens to shoot off any fireworks in their yards or neighborhoods, either. What a shame, but I totally support them in being careful about not wanting any wildfires here. We can celebrate in other ways and maybe next year we won’t have to worry about a drought.

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is right around the corner with the big Rolling Thunder Rally happening in D.C. Although I don’t live in D.C. I can see motorcycles all over town getting ready for the big weekend. There must be about a quarter of a million bikes that attend this event each year. I think it is a great thing to support our military and all those Americans who fought in the Vietnam War. It is a sad day, but those memories that the vets recall on a daily basis is far worse than the reminder we get every Memorial Day.

A few sights to see in and around D.C. include the Arlington Cemetery and the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Although the viewing of these historic monuments is not pleasant because of the memories and they lives lost, they are still worth seeing and paying our respects to the fallen.

Job Search

At least one in every ten people who live around here is looking for a job because they don’t have one. I am sure that another 1 in every ten is looking because they are miserable in their current job and desperately need a need work environment or bigger paycheck.

Those are some scary numbers to have hanging over our heads. I sure Obama gets busy and find a way to turn this economy around to the way it was 6 years ago.

You have got to see this

One of my waitresses showed me this video and I must admit, it is too funny.  Now I think by now you should know me well enough to know that I am not prejudice or anything like that at all so please no bad comments.  After you watch this, you will think it’s funny too no matter what the color of the person.  I hope you will anyway.  By the way, the waitress that showed me this is black herself.
