Cake Pops Fad

by

Everyone is raving about a dessert called cake pops. Have you seen them? They are balls of cake about the size of a golf ball that are stuck on sticks like lollipops. But they cake is completely covered in icing and then decorated very elaborately. Most of the ones I’ve seen have been decorated for a holiday or as animals.

Lat night I saw an infomercial for a special set of pans to make them at home. I think they are about $20 for a set of pans that have a special locking lid to force the rising cake better to form into small balls. I think that is a cool idea – I wish I could find the pans in the store instead of ordered from a toll free number. I didn’t write down that number from the commercial so I don’t know how to find them.

Worthless Coupons

by

About once a month, sometimes more often, I get an email from GoDaddy about saving money on domain names. Now, I only have a couple of domain names and it really does not cost very much to keep them registered with an annual renewal. But I’m all about saving money when I can. It all adds up!

So I tried to use the last coupon that GoDaddy sent me in my email last week and supposedly good for the rest of this month, promising a 20% savings. When I tired to use it, it said I wasn’t qualified to use the discount. I tried the coupon code, I tried using other links on their site, and I finally had to call their tech support people. Turns out that the coupon code did me no good – I got a better discount without having to do anything on their site except check out. What a great waste of time and huge frustration to me to deal with all of that – all for nothing.

Video Games for Rent

by

Just as I was about to give up on finding a place to rent video games, I hear that Redbox will be carrying them in addition to the DVDs that they rent for $1 a night. That is great news. I love the Redbox locations and the price is more than fair. I hope they have games for all the different platforms. I like the Playstation 3 the best and those are the games I want to rent.

Ground Beef

by

It seems to me that when my mother would go grocery shopping back in the day, she would stop at the butcher counter and ask for a pound of ground chuck. She sometimes asked for ground round, although I admit I do not know the difference between chuck and round. But it was important to her. I’m just happy to find ground beef, whatever the original cut, at a fair price. It has gotten so expensive lately that I am not buying much of it.

New Shoes

by

Time for new shoes. I’ve put off spending any money for several months. But its getting to be the time that sandals and open heels won’t be good enough for the coming bad weather. I need new boots and some new heels with closed toes to keep the mud out of my toes. So, let’s go shopping!
